Tranquil Hospital Ltd Partners with Western Region Police to Deliver Medical Outreach on the Day of the Street Child

On April 21, 2025, Tranquil Hospital Ltd was honored to participate in a noble initiative aimed at bringing hope and health to one of society's most vulnerable groups — children living and working on the streets. The event, held at Kakamega Approved School, was part of the Day of the Street Child Celebrations, organized under the leadership of the Western Region Police Commander.

Tranquil Hospital was invited as the official medical partner to offer a free medical camp, providing on-site consultations, basic treatments, and health education. Our presence at the event reflects our ongoing commitment to community health outreach, child welfare, and public-private partnerships in healthcare delivery.

Medical Booth Services Offered

The Tranquil team, comprising doctors, nurses, and support staff, set up a fully-equipped mobile clinic at the venue. Services offered included:

  • General health check-ups
  • Nutrition assessment and counseling
  • Treatment of minor ailments and injuries
  • Mental health support and counseling
  • Hygiene and sanitation awareness

More than 300 children and community members benefited from the services, with special attention given to previously untreated conditions and psychological trauma related to street life.

Building a Healthier Community Together

This collaboration with the Western Region Police was more than a single-day outreach — it demonstrated the power of multisectoral collaboration in addressing pressing social challenges. It also aligned with Tranquil Hospital's mission to extend accessible and compassionate healthcare to underserved populations, including children in rehabilitation centers.

Tranquil Hospital is grateful for the opportunity and remains committed to such initiatives that promote holistic healing, inclusion, and dignity for all.

A Call to Action

Street children face numerous health risks, ranging from untreated illnesses to mental health issues. Tranquil Hospital calls on fellow healthcare providers, civil society, and government agencies to join forces in creating a sustainable model of healthcare access for this marginalized group.
